About Natalie

Natalie is a registered dietitian with an eagerness to support individuals as they explore their beliefs and attitudes toward food. Natalie is passionate about assisting in the process of normalizing eating behaviors and has experience in treating individuals with eating disorders within residential, partial hospitalization, and in-person and virtual intensive outpatient levels of care.

Education

Natalie obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nutrition and Food Science with an emphasis in Dietetics from California State University, Chico. She then went on to obtain a Master’s of Science Degree in Nutrition Education from California State University, Chico. Natalie completed 1200 hours of supervised practice through the dietetic internship program at CSU, Chico to prepare for licensure.

Journey to Clinical Focus

While at CSU, Chico, Natalie’s focus began to step away from common diet approaches to health and she was introduced to an intuitive eating framework as well as other non-diet approaches. Natalie decided that these approaches made the most sense from a scientific standpoint, but they also suited her personal feelings and experiences about life and food. Natalie quickly became passionate about this focus and felt that it would be important to get involved outside of the classroom. She soon became influential in a campus club that promoted Health at Every Size ®, Intuitive Eating, and other non-diet approaches to health and wellness.

During her dietetic internship Natalie realized that she thought she was interested in clinical dietetics and the hospital setting, however ultimately she desired a role where she could establish more personal connections with clients and become able to support their long-term goals. After participating in an elective rotation at an eating disorder treatment facility, she felt this would be the area she wanted to focus on moving forward. Through her educational and personal experiences, Natalie recognized that she is devoted to helping individuals feel less afraid of food and to assist them in learning to honor and trust their bodies.
